Vocab 4 th brav nu wld

SMS and net language is everywhere, now. Acronyms are developing their own pronunciation and making the transition to everyday language. Here are some funny little ones:

pwnd - sprung out of bad typing, and now peppered everywhere. Pronounced "owned", it comes from the online gaming forums where overexcited people typed "P" instead of "O" when they beat someone. Now used to refer to someone beating someone else soundly in a game, or making a winning remark in discussion/argument.

zomg - pronounced "Zo-meg", a general expression of extreme excitement or surprise.

noob - back when I was at uni, the term was "newbie". It referred to anyone who was new to a forum who made silly comments, or who made it really obvious that they didn't know what they were doing. Noob takes less effort to type, and sometimes substitutes zeroes for the O's. Seen more often in gaming circles, now.
