All over now.

The election's all over now. I was impressed with the gentlemanly speech of John Howard and the grace with which he handed over the reins to Kevin Rudd. It made a great change to the nastiness of the electoral comments that I heard going to the polling booth, yesterday. I'm amazed at the venom that was expended upon the poor volunteers handing out how to vote slips. Very poor form.

Democracy is a good thing in many ways. It's a great opportunity to have your say as a nation on who you think will be the right person to lead the country. Time will now tell whether the country has made the right decision. In everything, God is in control, working through our leaders. We pray that our new leaders will now make wise decisions.

An irony of the election was the campaign for our local member. When your platform is "New Leadership", how do you sell a bloke who's as old as the prime minister and has been kicking around state politics since the 70s?

"Experience Counts"

Funny thing. The irony was completely missed by most people.
