Things I say too often...

Here are some of the phrases I would like to stop saying quite so much...

  • Not now, [insert child's name], Mummy is busy
  • Boo, stop squealing
  • Please stop daydreaming, and eat your dinner
  • Don't take that away from your sister
  • Share!!!!
  • I'll come and play soon, I just have to...
  • Stop that!
  • No!

What about these ideas from Becky Bailey:

"I'll do it when the clock says ...."
"Boo, use your lovely quiet voice."
"You've got some delicious sausages on your plate."
"Can you find something to give to your sister?"
"You guys can take turns with that."
"I will fix this up, and then I will come and play. Here is a timer which will show you how long it will take."
"You can do this!"
"No, but..... (tell them what you want them to do.)

These are harder to do, but more effective in the long run I am finding...

Great suggestions, Cec! :)

I find myself quite frequently saying some of those things, but in impatient moments they're often left behind in favour of the negative ones I mentioned! :)
