OK, so this makes me realise that I am, in fact, too materialistic for my liking:
My ipod is dead. To me, this is a very sad fact. If you're reading this, you're probably thinking: it's just a music player. It's a luxury item. Why be bothered about something that isn't necessary?
Here's the thing: I haven't been able to listen to podcast sermons since it died.
I rarely used it for music, even though I'd put my entire CD collection on there in the first flush of ownership. It was handy on long trips, when we could play the full gamut of kids' music without any repetition (our annual holidays are a 12-hour drive away). It was also good to use on our long-ish drives to the city. Occasionally when we had people over for dinner, it would get a party-mix workout. But the main thing I used it for was to listen to podcasts while making dinner/cleaning/sitting around doing nothing important.
That's what I miss.
Yup, I'm spoilt. The following phrase is one I'm learning to say to myself regularly: get over it.

Oh, go and play with your Wii! :)
yes, ok, point taken! :)
actually, just learnt that it's going to cost at least $150 to repair the thing, so i think the best option is to learn to live without it for now...
