Worrying development in NSW today, with a law to be introduced in parliament. If the law is passed, it would make it illegal for "declared groups" to recruit new members.
Why is this a worry?
Imagine if a group - a political or religious group, say - could become a "declared group". With the legislation currently in place, it would not be too hard a step. It would then automatically become an offence, maximum penalty 5 years in prison, to recruit someone into the group.
Can you see the problem?
