That's a Doozy...

I've been reading the gems in Proverbs lately, and there have been a couple of corkers that I've rediscovered...

Discipline your son, for in that there is hope,
do not be a willing party to his death. (19:18)

Like a gold ring in a pig's snout
is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion (11:22)

As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
so is a sluggard to those who send him. (10:26)

Have you any favourite proverbs?

31:10 A capable wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. and v25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.

I love that the woman to be treasured here is strong and able. This really goes against the whol idea of it is better for women to be silly and helpless.

Megan, the word used to characterise the wife apparently means warrior - cool. I feel like I'm fighting my way through the day often.

Kris, the gold ring in the pigs snout brings back memories of when I first got my nose pierced. My youth group leaders made a little stand for a copper ring from a bulls nose for me with that verse engraved on the front! I think I kept it somewhere...
